GEOLOGY AND WILDLIFE

Camdeboo National Park is located in a summer rainfall, semi-arid-desert area and forms part of the Karoo. Nearly 250 bird species and 43 mammals have been recorded in the park. The one to look out for is the Bat Eared Fox.

WHAT'S THE WEATHER LIKE?

Most of the average rainfall [336mm per annum] occurs in summer and autumn, with a peak in March. Thunderstorms and high temperatures are common during summer months while snowfalls can occur in the high-lying areas in winter. Summers are hot and winters very cold, so pack accordingly. The winter months runs from May to September [low season] while the summer runs from October to April [high season]. The summer averages 27C [84.2F] while winter temperatures average 19C [66.2F]
